An Enlish harbour, a reindeer and Swedish summer

Hello Stitching Friends❣

My menopause hormones have really given me hell this week and therefore my stitching has been a bit sketchy. Some days I've really enjoyed my stitching and other days I haven't wanted to stitch a single stitch.
However, today I did enjoy stitching on Tranquil Harbour by Lucie Heaton. In fact, I think it's my favorite project at the moment...at least for today, haha😊.

I love all the different details on this project. I can switch between stitching a boat and then some water, and then some reflections in the water and then some bright and colourful houses. Since I easily get bored with a project (thus having 30 on the go at the same time😉) I love that kind of variety.

My Swedish summer project is also coming along very nicely.

I have seen some lovely Christmas stitching on your blogs lately, and it made me really keen to start one of my own Prairie Schooler Xmas designs this past weekend. Especially as I had found a lovely piece of sparkly aida fabric that would make a perfect background for the gorgeous design called Christmas Eve.
However, I didn't realize that the piece of fabric actually was too small for this project until I was going to start stitching on Saturday and the disappointment really threw me, I must say.
Having no other suitable fabric for the Christmas Eve design I decided to start another Prairie Schooler Xmas chart instead, The Night Before Christmas, but my heart just wasn't in it.

Quite a pityful start actually...

Because I was still desperate to use that lovely sparkly aida with gold threads I decided to use it for an ornament from the Christmas Eve chart instead.

But I ran out of steam with this little cute project too...

Hope that progress on all your lovely projects have been better than mine. Right now I feel like I haven't made any cross stitching progress at all lately. I just can't seem to stick to a project for more than a few hours… but I also know that the crazy hormones and the tummy aches make me more restless and edgy than I normally am😞.

FINALLY… I'm probably the last one to join the party, but I found this amazing CROSS STITCH CALCULATOR when I was trying to work out the size of fabric I needed for my PS charts. It's simply genius! Just add the stitch count of your chosen chart and you'll get the exact size of the fabric you need for your chart. Just LOVE IT!

Take Care,

Annie

Spring Into Summer New Start Binge and thread organizers

Hello Stitching Friends❣

I'm SO happy to see that a few of you found my previous post, and even took the time to leave a comment. Thank you so much; that really made my day😘❤❣ And it also made me even more happy and pleased with being back in the land of cross stitching!

For the first time in a long time I also caught up with some of my favorite cross stitching blogs around the world and it felt really good to read your posts and be reminded of the warmth and encouragement that exists amongst stitchers💝.
And to my delight I also found a perfectly good reason to start another cross stitching project...or two... I mean, who doesn't want a reason to start another project??? RACHEL and TIFF started and planned the SPRING INTO SUMMER NEW START BINGE with a new start every weekend during April, May, June and July to replace the sad absence of the Tokyo Olympics. I desperately miss all sports around the world that have been cancelled and anything that takes my mind off it is a good thing.

Hence I started a design by Ursula Michael yesterday! It's one of her many gorgeous 'Let's…..' word designs made up of just words and backstitch. I love them all but only have a couple of charts. This one, Let's Cross Stitch, I bought back in 2016 so it's about time I started it, don't you think?!

I had some lovely lime-coloured aida in my stash and I originally planned to use it for another design, but I changed my mind and decided to use it for this one instead. And I'm so happy I did! It works perfectly with the bright colour threads and the simple backstitch design. I also replaced a couple of the original tread colours since I'm trying to use ONLY my old stash (the last couple of years have been a huge financial struggle for me...). That means that I have to make a couple of adjustments to the original chart. For example, the scissors should be stitched in DMC 333 but I used 915 instead as you can see. I actually don't think you can tell that I changed the numbers 333 to 915😊. Overall it feels great to finally start this project, and I only wish I had more of these lovely charts by Ursula Michael...

I was on such a stitching roll yesterday. After I finished working on my new start, I picked up this lovely Swedish project again.

I added some more greenery, and started to stich the cottages and lighthouse and some more water. My needle was flying and I didn't feel like stopping until well after midnight. Which I'm paying for today...😁. But I enjoyed myself immensely and I was so happy to be cross stitching again!

Lastly, I have to show you the thread organizers my clever sister made for me! When I stitch freebies from cross stitching magazines I always need some kind of organizers for the loose threads and mostly I make something really ugly and haphazardly such as this one:

So I thought I'd ask my super creative sister instead if perhaps she could help me to make some nicer ones?!

So she kindly cut some new ones from her cardstock in lovely colours and then I decorated them with some old stickers that my sister also made. Aren't they pretty?! I almost want to grab a freebie card and start stitching just so I can use them😂.

Now it's time for me to stop blogging and start stitching.

Happy Stitching,

Annie

Wonderful Crafts Fair and some stitching!

Hello Everyone !

Yesterday I visited a yearly Crafts Fair in Stockholm (the capital of Sweden) and I had the most WONDERFUL TIME ! I spent lots of money and bought lots of crafty goodies : )
As far as cross stitching is concerned , I bought all these small beads for a real bargain price : )

They aren't Mill Hill , but I tried to pick beads in nice colours that I could use instead of Mill Hill seed beads . Now that I have found out how much I love beading I have to make sure I have a little stash of beady beauties lol !

I bought more of my very favorite knitting yarn !

I have never come across another yarn that is sooo soft and cuddly ! And luckily they come in my favorite colours too : )

I also got some sparkly metallic threads in Christmas colours for crochet projects . . .

Since this was a general crafts fair I also got some scrapbooking material and some crafty magazines ! Normally craft products - including cross stitch products -are very expensive in Sweden , so it is absolutely lovely to have an opportunity to find some bargains for once in such an setting ! It was just a wonderful time and something that really fed my soul with happiness : )

Otherwise I've had a really busy week and I've hardly had time to sit down to stitch . . : (
Therefore I had decided that today would be ALL about stitching , so for 8 hours I stitched . . . and it was pure bliss ! It made me realise how much I had missed not being able to cross stitch , so this week I have to make an effort to find more time for my cross stitch projects .

I worked on my Iphone-cover and made really good progress on it ! Almost all of the white background is done :

It is difficult to see on the pictures but I have used some white Pearlescent in the background . I tried to catch the sparkle from another angle . . .

. . . but I'm not sure it worked . . . lol : ) I can't wait to see this one finished and to be able to put it on my phone !

Speaking of finish , I am FINALLY finished with my never - ending strawberry band ! ! ! I did the last backstitching today . . .

Chart from Cross Stitcher issue 239.
Designer: Lucie Heaton

. . . so now I have stitched 14 strawberries in a row ! Mentally this was a huge struggle - soo boring to repeat a pattern over and over - but I must say that in the end they look great together all in a row ! However , I can safely say that I have definitely had enough of strawberries for this year lol !

Hope you've all had a really nice weekend with lots of nice cross stitching !

Stitchy gifts - received and made!

Hi everyone!

I have received a wonderful gift by Melanie (http://melaniethewipslayer.blogspot.se/ ) in the post !
It is a lovely little needle minder with a wonderful little Stitchy Bug! It is just soo sweet!

I also received a beautiful card from Melanie with a lovely Mirabilia design on the front !

Thank you sooo much for my lovely gifts , Melanie ! Receiving them really made my day and I'm really looking forward to using my cute little needle minder : )

Today I had to finish my gifts for my aunt's 60th birthday .
First up was the little stitched heart . . .

. . . that I have now finished putting together : )

Then I put together a doubled birthday card and it was all going very well . . . until I realised that I had decorated it upside down ! Oh nooo ! There was nothing left to do but to cut it off down the middle and write the greeting on the back of the single card . . . Oh well , it is the thought that counts , right ?

I'm not too keen on the finishing process when it comes to my stitching , but once I got going today I felt in the groove and carried on finishing a few more cards for future family birthdays : )

When I make cross stitch cards I like to decorate them in a simple way - or not at all - so the stitching can be the focus of the card .

This is a Durene Jones-design that I stitched a long time ago (I don't remember from which magazine either) . . .

. . .  so it felt really good to finally turn it into a actual card that I can use : )

Finally I finished putting together this little sweet picture . . .

I am not sure where this one will end up in the end , but for now I am VERY happy to be able to put it in my 'Finished Projects' box !

Happy Stitching Everyone!
